RELY-REC — network recorder

A network recorder that captures standard Ethernet, HSR and PRP traffic against a common time base. When a fault occurs you can reconstruct what happened, when and in what order, with nanosecond-accurate timestamps.

The PDF is the official SoC-e product brochure. It overlaps with the specification table on this page, butthe manufacturer’s official PDF is authoritative, and this page is a summary of it. Where the two differ, the PDF takes precedence; please contact us.

Overview

Overview

This is more than a packet capture appliance. It synchronises to the whole network over PTP or NTP and handles HSR/PRP duplicate frames correctly before recording. Where multiple devices work together, as in a substation or a factory, fault analysis breaks down if their clocks drift apart. RELY-REC records against a common time base, producing evidence that stands up to forensic examination. Captures are stored in PCAP and open directly in Wireshark.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can the captures be opened in Wireshark?

Yes. Captures are stored in PCAP format, so they open directly in Wireshark and other standard analysis tools.

How are HSR/PRP duplicate frames handled?

Duplicate frames are recognised and handled, avoiding the double-counting that a simple mirror-port capture would produce.

Can data be read while recording continues?

Yes. Simultaneous read and write are supported, so past data can be retrieved without stopping the capture.
